COVID Absences

As you will be fully aware, the COVID-19 mandatory isolation requirements have now been removed effective from Friday, 14 October 2022 within Western Australia.

As a school, we have been working closely with Australian Independent Schools of Western Australia (AISWA) and the Department of Health to determine what these changes mean for you and your child/children as we learn to live with COVID-19 within Western Australia.

Anyone who is unwell is encouraged to take a RAT and stay home until their symptoms resolve. Please continue to contact us if your child is absent due to illness via the normal means through Student Reception at studentreception@stgeorges.wa.edu.au.

All people who test COVID-19 positive, both staff and students alike, are encouraged to stay home until their symptoms resolve. They are also asked to register their positive RAT with the WA Health Department.

Anyone who is a close contact of a positive COVID-19 case is encouraged to test daily for five days and only attend school following a daily negative RAT result. Mask wearing is also strongly encouraged during this time to safeguard all other members of our School Community through this vulnerable time. Students and staff can wear a mask at school if they choose. We encourage this to occur especially where being socially distanced from others is more difficult.

COVID - 19 positive cases and close contacts cannot visit public hospitals for seven days.

When attending TAFE placements, students are expected to adhere to the requirements of that TAFE and/or workplace.

You can visit healthywa.wa.gov.au for all the relevant up-to-date details related to COVID-19 together with health-based support and advice as we take the next steps in our COVID-19 journey.

Please contact Student Reception if you have any further questions or queries.
