Meet the School Council

Mr Carmody has more than 15 years experience in property development. After a decade working nationally with a WA-based property development company, Mr Carmody established Tomahawk Property in 2015 to pursue  property development, consulting and project management services. Mr Carmody holds a Real Estate and Business Agent’s Licence, Triennial Certificate and has completed a Masters in Property degree at Curtin University. Tom is married with two children.

Mrs Heavey is a forensic scientist with more than 20 years’ experience in forensic biology, as Quality Manager of the Forensic Biology Department of PathWest Laboratory Medicine WA. Mrs Heavey is an Adjunct Lecturer at Murdoch University and Chair of the Quality Specialist Advisory Group under the Australia New Zealand Policing Advisory Agency-National Institute of Forensic Science. She joined the St George’s Anglican Grammar School Council in 2020 as Deputy Chair and also leads the Council Governance Working Group.

A former teacher, Mr Willesee moved into a corporate position and is now a company director and secretary with over 20 years’ experience in various roles in the Australian capital markets. Mr Willesee has experience with ASX-listed and other companies covering a broad range of industries and capital development projects. He has expertise in strategy, company development, corporate governance, company public listings, merger and acquisition transactions and corporate finance. Winton is married with two children, with his son having attended St George's.

The Dean of St George’s Cathedral, The Very Rev Chris Chataway joined the School Council in 2021. Before arriving in Perth in 2020, he was Dean of Ballarat, Victoria, and Archdeacon and Parish Priest in the Diocese of Adelaide and spent 17 years on school boards - at St Andrew’s Walkerville in Adelaide and at Ballarat Grammar. The Very Rev Chris began studying theology after leaving a music degree at the Adelaide Conservatorium and was ordained in 1985. He is married and has four adult children.

Mrs Hodby is an economist with more than 25 years' experience in Australia and the UK providing economics and policy advice to government and private clients. Her background is in regional economic analysis spanning the agriculture, tourism, resources and infrastructure sectors. Currently  Principal at ACIL Allen, Australia’s largest independent economics consultancy, Mrs Hodby holds a Master of Economics and Bachelor of Economics from the University of Western Australia. Mrs Hodby is the mother of two boys who attend St George's and is a member of the Council Finance Committee.

Mr Jensen is a senior associate in Lavan’s Education, Employment and Safety team with over 30 years’ experience in employment law, and he primarily works in the education sector. Prior to commencing law, Mr Jensen worked as a cartographer for 10 years. He has served on the School Council since 2016, bringing a wealth of experience as a Director/Board Member of various organisations, and also sits on the Governance Committee of the Council.

Dr Allen was a secondary school teacher in England and Western Australia for 28 years and after completing a doctorate, he moved into university teaching for the next 16 years. Dr Allen has published many papers on a variety of educational topics and co-authored two books on classroom assessment practices. He has led professional learning courses for teachers, education leaders and university teachers in Indonesia. Dr Allen has previously served on three school boards - two in Queensland and one in Perth.

Ms Mead is a registered architect with more 10 years’ experience working on commercial projects, primarily in the education sector. She has been involved in the design, documentation and contract administration of Primary, Secondary and Tertiary Institute projects and is currently a senior architect working on high-end residential and commercial projects.

Mr Parnell has more than 17 years’ experience as a mathematics teacher and has held a number of school executive roles, including Head of Pastoral Care and Head of IT and Operations at Peter Carnley Anglican Community School. Currently the Director of Technology for the Anglican Schools Commission - providing strategic and operational support to its schools - Mr Parnell was the ASC's Acting Chief Operating Officer in 2023. Mr Parnell is currently studying a Masters in Leadership and is a parent at Peter Carnley ACS.
