Our vertical school expands with landmark new campus in the CBD
St George’s Anglican Grammar School — Perth’s first vertical and only co-educational high school in the heart of the CBD — is proud to announce the opening later this year of a landmark, purpose-built campus just 700 metres from its current site.
Located at 441 Murray Street in the city, the sprawling new facility marks a new chapter for the school that pioneered city-based secondary education - and now plays a leading role in shaping Perth as a growing education destination.
Owned by AngliSchools, the custom-designed campus has cutting-edge science laboratories and entire floors dedicated to performing arts and mathematics being launched as part of its first phase. It has also created spaces to offer new electives in Food Technology, Woodwork and Mechatronics with outdoor spaces on every floor and a huge canteen floor with an outdoor playground. It very much is Perth’s best kept secret.
“St George’s has always been a school with a difference — we have an exciting vision for our future, and this is our first step,” said Principal, Mrs Tina Campbell. “Our new campus, designed by Hassell Architects, allows us to meet growing demand for places across Years 7 – 12 while continuing to deliver the personalised education that has always defined who we are.”
Both the existing and new campuses will operate in tandem for the next five years, until 441 Murray Street becomes the school’s permanent home with extensive new educational spaces on every level in 2030.
Students will begin lessons at the new campus from the start of Term 3, following the July school holidays. An official opening celebration is scheduled for September.
“Our new campus is a landmark space designed with our students’ best interests in mind — it is a place where they can thrive, explore and grow as confident and capable users of the city,” Mrs Campbell said. “We have taken what we have loved about our 50 William Street site where we have been located for the last 10 years as a city-based school and made it better at 441 Murray Street. St George’s Anglican Grammar School will continue to make the educational experience of every student special by using the city as part of their everyday learning experiences.
"The heart of St George’s remains the same — the city is still very much part of our campus. Our new building is bold, connected and built for the future and we are proud to be the innovators who are redefining what education looks like in the heart of City of Perth.”
