St George's Anglican Grammar School is proud of the strong sense of community that exists at the School. We actively encourage community engagement with our students, providing opportunities for them to volunteer their services for a range of initiatives within the School and the wider community.
One of these initiatives is Food Rescue's food cart. Food Rescue is a UnitingCare West program feeding disadvantaged people in Western Australia. It aims to alleviate hunger by rescuing perishable, fresh and nutritious food from cafes, caterers, supermarkets and wholesalers and delivering it to disadvantaged, vulnerable people.
Did you know Australians waste 8 billion dollars of food each year? Food rescue collects approximately 500,000 thousand kilos of food each year which feeds over 11,000 people per week.
We are very fortunate to have the opportunity to contribute to such a worthy organisation.
