Brand new school campus in heart of the City of Perth

Monday, 21 July 2025

A bold new chapter in city-based schooling has begun as St George’s Anglican Grammar School opens the doors to its brand-new vertical campus at 441 Murray Street, Perth.

Situated walking distance from its original home, as part of the new AngliSchools House, the landmark additional school is set to redefine urban education with a contemporary, purpose-built facility that places students at the centre of city life. The opening signals a significant milestone in the school’s evolution, offering larger, smarter and more future-focused learning while retaining its inner-city identity.

“After years of planning and dreaming, our new city campus is ready. This is a transformative moment not just for our students, but for education in Western Australia,” said Principal Tina Campbell said.

“The new building allows St George’s to continue to grow as a school with four-stream entry across Year 7 to 12 in the heart of the CBD. Perth is truly becoming an education hub.’’

The vertical campus - inside the newly opened AngliSchools House, includes five state-of-the-art science laboratories, a dedicated Performing Arts Centre, new facilities to support specialist electives such as Food Technology, Mechatronics, and Woodwork, and expansive student recreation and breakout areas with city views.

The design celebrates the school’s unique vertical model while maximising the opportunities of its dynamic city location. With cafes, transport hubs, arts venues and civic centres at its doorstep, students will continue to learn in real-world contexts, supported by cutting-edge facilities and a strong Anglican ethos.

The move will bring a daily presence of students, staff, and visitors to the western end of Murray Street, contributing to the ongoing activation and renewal of this often-overlooked part of the city. The revitalised 1985 building has been thoughtfully repurposed and reimagined and is now home to AngliSchools Head Office, AngliSchools International and the Language College, and the second campus of St George’s Anglican Grammar School.

"By day, AngliSchools House will be alive with students in red blazers, teachers and head office staff,’ said The Reverend Peter Laurence OAM, CEO of AngliSchools. "This is a building with purpose and energy, and one we believe will help continue to shape Perth’s future as a vibrant education destination.

"This building represents so much more than bricks and mortar. It is a reflection of AngliSchools' continuing growth, and our commitment to delivering innovative, inclusive, and values-led education across Western Australia and beyond.''

The building has already been recognised for its sustainable transformation, receiving the 2025 WA State Award for Excellence in Repair, Restoration and Retrofitting from the Concrete Institute of Australia. Through the reuse of 2,734m³ of existing concrete, the project:

    • Diverted approximately 6,480 tonnes of material from landfill
    • Prevented more than 1,000 tonnes of CO₂ emissions, significantly reducing its carbon footprint

“Our identity as Perth’s only inner-city school remains unchanged but with this new campus, we can offer so much more. It’s a school built for tomorrow, open today,” said Mrs Campbell.

A welcoming ceremony was conducted on the first day of Term 3 - including a blessing by the Archbishop of Perth, The Most Reverend Kay Goldsworthy AO (pictured above).
