St George's Anglican Grammar School's Head of Mathematics has been awarded a top honour for excellence in teaching and learning.

Miss Chloe Hewitt’s contributions to St George’s extend for almost as long as the history of the school - she started as a graduate in 2017 and became Head of Learning Area - Mathematics, in 2022. However, it has been Miss Hewitt's overall approach to the holistic care of students - as much as exceptional student results - that earned her the 2025 AngliSchool CEO Award for Excellence in Teaching and Learning.

Chief Executive Officer of AngliSchools, The Reverend Peter Laurence OAM, told an audience of educators at AngliSchools' Anglican Identity Day conference in Mt Claremont on Monday that the award-winner showed through her actions that excellent results follow excellent pastoral care.

“The holistic care provided to students' overall wellbeing empowered many to surpass their own academic expectations and demonstrated the profound impact of her commitment to nurturing the whole individual,'' Reverend Laurence said.

"This unwavering commitment and leadership continue to leave a lasting legacy – one that is felt deeply by staff, students and families alike, and one that will undoubtedly shape the future of the school for years to come.''

Miss Hewitt's leadership in ATAR Maths saw St George’s named the top-achieving school in Year 12 Mathematics Applications in 2023. A St George's student achieved the highest mark for Specialist Mathemastics in the state the same year and Miss Hewitt taught a successful University of WA Fogarty Scholar in both Maths Methods and Specialist.

Miss Hewitt received her award in the presence of fellow St George's staff before being congratulated by students on the first day back at school.
